Starting Sept. 1st Quinte Conservation is starting to Charge $5.00 to park in there parking lots.I guess that means whenever you park at Potters creek to fish from shore or go ice fishing its gonna cost you.

If Quinte Conservation can show an income to offset facility maintenance costs, I'm all for it.

My thinking is that, if the facilities fishermen use are cost neutral or better yet profitable, the authority will have incentive to maintain them.

In some areas, water access is becoming limited.

The other fishing forms, Fish-hawk and Lake Simcoe, are describing limited water access and unreasonable and/or excessive fees in their areas.

A couple of weeks ago, I fished out of the George St. ramps in Belleville. Beautiful facility and $6.00 parking. I thought it was a great deal.

If paying a reasonable fee, like five dollars, gets me access to water, then I'm good with it.

Better than Wellingtons $15 ramp fee for a crap ramp with no lighting...

If the conservation area has a boat launch it costs $10.00 to park and launch boat, instead of the $5.00

YEP !!! Its pretty disgusting that this is happening... I remember a few years ago when the SOofaBitches were trying to pass a law that would require me to pay a dock fee at my own dock on the Trent.. That did not happen and I support any initiative that respects each other regardless of where you live.

I have no prob pay or no pay. But in the end it cost more to collect, maintain payment devices etc. But if it means they keep the launches much better shape I’ll chip in

The only problem is you have to download the "Mackay pay parking app" to pay the fee.

Water access is a major issue.
Battle to control the lakes and waterways.
Although the legislation is quite clear that flowing waterways are "Queen's Property" and is available for all to use it seems that those who have any residential ownership of shoreline consider the waters as theirs as well.
Huge issues and the winners are the groups who can and do provide the political arm with funding and other support.

The only way to have the governance of the area to support any water access project/program is to tie it to an electable platform that the local population is in total support for.

Having great boat ramps and lots of parking often leads to increase in vehicle traffic at all hours of the day and night . Something that is sure to upset folks who spent a lot of money to get a place on a peaceful lake.

It is a bit of a catch 22 for back lakes as well. Great lake now but when you have anglers pounding it day after day it tends to decline. My point is made by the history of the Kawartha Lakes. Then at noon hour the tuber waterskiing wakeboats and others come out. The relentless waves pound the shoreline and cause issues to say the least.

These are just a few things that need to be considered when the issue of boat launch and parking is desired by some.

Paying a few bucks to offset the cost of the parking lot the ramp and dock is something that I expect to pay as I am a visitor and these amenities are expensive.

Good luck to those who have the desire and patience to get some improvements in water accessiblity for use all.
