Just mentioned this to my group of fishing friends. We will have 4 huts, heaters and gear if this is a weekend event.
Jim.

Tylercurt,

I have the required gear and I'm very willing to volunteer for this event. Also, I have a 2-up quad and can volunteer to transport participants on the ice.

Looking forward to this event gaining some traction!

I know time is getting tight but still waiting for Ottawa to get their timelines and accommodations straightened out, if I don't hear back shortly I might have to cancel as it is not fair to those that have volunteered their time and are waiting for the go ahead.
Another though would be I can go to both bases trenton/kingston and see if there are any serving members that would like to just get out and learn from experienced anglers from the board if people are still interested in taking someone out.

Tim

Morning everyone, I just finished talking with the organizer in Ottawa and we have decided to cancel the soldier on ice fishing event for eastern Ontario. With all the incidents in the past week it has become a concern for the safety of the vets. I understand that there might be better ice next month at this time but with the way the ice sits now we had to make a decision. I apologize to those who have committed to volunteering but this is safety issue and I hope you understand. If you would still like to take a vet out on the ice make a post on the board or local FB pages and I’m sure someone will jump on the offer, just it will not be under the Solder On banner. I still plan on holding a summer event , last summer’s event went great barring the heat and the last min scramble…lol Thank you to those that stepped up and offered your time and gear to take a veteran out for a few days.

That's too bad. Big bay has got 12" out of Belleville sidw., But the snow is brutal!

Hopefully there is enough interest to set up outings in May, June, September and yes even October...
Grass Creek Park would be great launch for May & June outings on the St. Lawrence River.
September and October would be awesome time on some of the Rideau Series Lakes or even Charleston, Loughborough, or Mississippi Lake.

Seems like the only hold up is with the "cake eaters" in Ottawa.
Hopefully they can see the response here and else where to know the support from the fishing community is strong
