Does anyone know of anyone who services spinning reels in the Durham area? I have two Shimano Symetre 2500FL reels that get stiff when they get wet. Gets to a point where I can't reel in.

Thanks in advance.

Give Gagnon's Sports a call. If they don't do it there they may be able to help you find someone who can.

Take or send them directly to Shimano Repair and Warranty in Peterborough. Most often a general cleaning and lubrication runs around $20. or $30. per reel if no broken parts are needed to be replaced. Quite often they are ready in less than a week.

Better learn how to do it yourself or get rid of those reels, I HAD same issue with mine. Brand new out of box I had these issues, cleaned and oiled tried again, same result.

I was able to exchange reel and same result with the next one, about 2 hours of fishing and it starts to bind up becoming hard to crank or turn. Figured for the price of the reel I shouldn't be experiencing these issues but they are junk.

Best 160 bucks I've ever wasted.

Shimano will do it for you. around 30 bucks a reel though.

You could always watch a youtube vid and buy some reel lubricants and do a little DIY project for about half that and it will give you the materials to do 30 reels.
