I receive this walleye site which shows big fish from all over, but this one's from Quinte.

F Y I

"We've shared a pile of seriously-impressive walleyes this year, but Rob Henry just blew 'em all out of the water with a ridonkulous 16.8-lb freak caught (and released!) outta the Bay of Quinte. We recommend sitting down for this one:

Image

Fish was suspended over 150' [!] and crushed a "yellow perch" Rapala Down Deep Husky Jerk trolled at 1.7 mph. Had an 8' leader of 20-lb Sufix fluorocarbon tied to the 30-lb Sufix braid main line.

The program: Running a 3-oz Snap Weight 100' behind an Off Shore Tackle Planer Board...then another 100' of line back to the bait.

> Rob: "We knew it was huge when it hit...it yanked the board back and we couldn't move it for the longest time.

> "Couldn't have done it without Daryl Ensoll and Jason Greentree...definitely a team effort: One guy reeling, one taking the snap weight and planer board off, the other moving rods and lines (so we didn't cross any) and netting the monster!"

Get this: The fish was caught and released juuuust before the Lindner Media crew showed up to film with 'em. Swear those big ones know whether the camera is rolling or not (lol). Insane fish, fellas!

You know the interwebz Photoshop "fish police" are lovin' that pic:"

WOW Beautiful Fish
However if I am reading the "program" right 200' of braid from board to lure with a 3oz weight at 100' will put that lure
way to deep for this guy, in my opinion that "program" will kill a lot of fish.

Yeah, more we look at that photo, the more it makes LESS sense. First off, Dan; do you know this Guy? We'd hate to slam a decent Dude, holding a spectacular Quinte Superstar Walleye.

However: take a careful look at proportions for Fish and Fisherman. Consider things like: howcum the Guy's Right Hand is so BIG, and where the heck is his Left Hand, holding a LIVE 16+ pound Fish?

Then look at the Girth of the Fish, compared to the Fisherman. The Gut is bigger than the Guys? If so, that Fish should probably weigh 40-50 lbs or more. The Dude would likely be grimacing, rather than smiling, with that much Fish extended that far from his Body.

We may be totally off Base. If so, we sincerely apologize to the Guy. But in our opinion, there's at least a possibility that Fish may simply be a nice 7 pounder, dressed up for The Dance. Sure is Pretty though.

Rgds, WorDpecker

I've no comment on the integrity of the picture as I've seen pictures of big fish that didnt do the fish any justice at all and the flip side where the fish was posed and framed just right and seemed to look a lot bigger than what it probably was. As for the Angler, a good guy who has definitely put his time in. In terms of how deep he was running with the stated set up barotrauma is possible. Its not stated how fish was released and if any of the products available on the market today to offset barotrauma was used.

First of all, if you've ever held walleye over ten pounds, you'll know that that is not a dressed up seven. Second thing, real nice fish!

Rob Henry's integrity is above question , he is a Master angler and is as professional as they come , Rob would never have stated a weight if he had not checked it and checked it again before making the claim , as to his photography skills there is no photo shop , he uses a camera that highlights the fish not just the pose , not for everybody but achieves the goal , if you would like to get some tips on picture taking send him a polite Pm or catch him at one of the spring shows and i'm sure he will help you out . As for the issue of barotrauma , with that set up he would have been down 30 to 35 ft which is slightly more than one atmosphere of pressure , with a slow rise and cold water that fish would not be overly stressed , Be kind in your reply's ,Rob is one of the good guy's that shares a lot of information showing disrespect will only drive a contributor away from this forum ,,,,If you don't like the picture or believe the size all you need to say is Nice Fish
