YES!!!!!!!!!! I sure hope this goes through, these things have done so much damage to the fisheries as well as property.The population needs thinning badly.

Does anyone have a recipe that doesn't require a slab of wood.

Can we use napalm?

Very important that everyone on this site takes a few minutes to register and comment on the EBR in favour of the cull. The more support the better chance this long overdue bill will pass

Also might I suggest printing it out and take it to any tackle shops, sporting shops you may visit- the more eyes and positive responses on this the better.

The MNR want to include cormorants in a daily bag limit.

I really don't think most hunters would be interested hunting them if they're considered a food source and can't be spoiled or wasted.

I've made a comment to the MNR suggesting that cormorants be considered vermin until their numbers stabilize. I don't think there's enough people that would hunt cormorants as a gamebird to make a difference.

If they were vermin and could be shot from a stationary motorized boat, I might carry a shotgun for when fishing is slow.

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act currently prohibits anyone who kills game wildlife (including game birds), or who possesses game wildlife killed by hunting, from allowing that meat to spoil. Via this posting, the Ministry is also consulting on a proposal to amend the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to add provisions so hunters could allow cormorant to spoil. This proposal would add provisions to the Act, so that persons who lawfully hunt (or possess) cormorants could be exempt from this requirement and would be subject to conditions that require the person to retrieve and dispose of the carcass. Should this proposal proceed, it may be accompanied by regulations to implement the exemption and requirements.

They are not a game bird. Many trained retrievers will not even pick them up due to either the smell or oil
in their feathers.

We're going to need to figure out a way to dispose of the carcasses that doesn't stink up the place. I already can see thoughtless folks making a stinking mess then the broader public complaining to the MNR and making this a hot button issue.
