Decided to go look at the ice at pt ann. Spudded straight out .6 of a km. Set up in 16' of water. Ice was a hair under 4" of clear black ice. Found a few spots where it was just 2.5". Lots of cracking and a few times right under foot as I walked. Shook the hut a few times. Got into a bunch of Simcoe sized perch and that was it. Maybe had 3 real good marks but they just werent interested. I can't speak for the thickness of the ice except where I walked. Be careful and spud often to check the thickness. There were a few times where the ice was so clear looked like there was no ice at all.

It's good to hear it's making ice , makes you feel alive with all that noise under yourfeet. Thanks for the report Dan. Sounds like you made it out pretty far. I hope you had company with you?

Point Anne looks good to me. Took a trip today from Napanee to check it out, ended up spending the day. had 5+ inches where about half a km out and didn't see wet spots anywhere after the fresh snow...even some guys out in the channel.

No walleye but the perch were no joke! Brought home 5 and got a pound of meat. All around 10-12"

Went out again last night. We walked 1.5km straight out. No eyes for me and my buddy list 2(one was my fault, at the hole trying to get my hands on it to pull it out) the other came unbuttoned. 3" of ice so be careful!

Nice perch Jiggin.... also Great to see the ice starting to build again guys. Hopefully we don’t get too much snow to slow this process down.

Have to ask, how are the perch on the bay these days with regards to worms in the meat. It has to be at least 20+ yrs ago now while setup with friends from Shannonville and man were we on the yella bellies. Decided before I started to keep too many I’d better check and man their weren’t just a few worms inside the meat, I mean they were loaded so I didn’t keep any. Be nice if they have cleaned up since then.

wow, big perch. I've never caught such big ones in the bay. Think those are Lake O perch in for the winter or something?

Yellow grubs...weren't too bad, but there were a few...holding the fillet up to a bright light you can see through it and pick them out
