Just curious if anyone ice fishes the back end of hay bay like the flats off of Cuthill Rd.?

Does anyone ever ice fish near Ram Island? Or is the ice too sketchy there?

Never have tried to ice fish the back end but I want to try in late Feb as I know they swarm in this area to spawn in spring.

There's also an decent spot to launch to fish Ram...can't remember the name of the little park but it's fire number 1531 South Shore rd

1531 is a little parkette, Brooks Ferry Landing. Stairs down a hill to the water. About 1 km east of Ram Island. Don't know about the ice.

The launch by the Loyalist Church at 2401 is a couple of km west of Ram Island. The ice is usually good there.

The flats can produce fish. Lived on it my whole life. The fishing is better in the later parts but not saying you won’t get them now. The 2 main points always be cautious. But other than that. Kinda fish the middle in 10’ if you find it. Water is usually stained a little and the fish are normally a little brighter in colour.
Have had my most success jigging a Swedish rattle. Bright coloured. Lots of perch. And pike down that way especially if you get into some weeds

The bite in the upper end are sparse as the fish are moving and come by your hole every now and then.

There have been some bug fish taken up in the deep (10') area, it's a long walk from the ramp, people use snow machines to travel out there.

Watch the ice

Best of luck
