Went onto the ice at Huff's this morning from about 8 til 11:30. There were 6 or 7 tents up. Ice was black and clear as glass. There was about 5 inches where I drilled. I caught and kept a 22 inch fish. I also iced a 26 inch beast which I released. Lost another at the hole. Marked a few more on my Humminbird that seemed to come and have a look but didn't strike. All fish were caught on a small jigging rap in about 23 fow.. Tried a buckshot spoon but it drew looks without strikes. Ice was pinging all morning. I was spudding all the way and because there was no snow you could gauge ice thickness by looking at the cracks.
Be careful out there.

Thanks for the report. Is the field open for parking?

Thanks

Watch the area by the point. I went to check it Saturday morning and it hardly slowed the spud bar down on the way through. That was the only sketchy patch I found though.

Thanks for the parking info.

Last year, where the ice was bare, we were fishing on 7 inches of ice. Where the ice was snow covered there was only two inches. Because there were shacks out people were assuming the ice was consistant thinckness and walking out over the snow without checking.

Be real careful at Huff's.
