Didn't know if the form had seen this yet. Really too bad. Never assume the ice is safe. Even on an existing track.

Unfortunately common sense was left at home.
People need to understand that in almost every lake and river there are pockets of high water flow and springs that cut the ice from below.
Prayers for the victims and their families.
