I’d read the other posts that speak of ice conditions. Either way, the conditions will change by next weekend. It’s supposed to get cold so I’m sure it’ll build ice. Currently it sounds very inconsistent and patchy. There was a boat trolling on the Trent river in Trenton today.

Last weekend when I was on the ice I would not have considered the middle channel safe across from airforce base as I was only measuring 4-5 inches closer to the south shore where there is less current that in the middle. I typically will see a 2 inch loss in ice from the place I fished in comparison to the middle channel. With that said I would expect that if the weather plays out as it is current forecasted that it "should" be safe in the channel by next Saturday. Either way bring a spud and all other safety gear for good measure and you should be good to go.

We are reluctant to post this info, simply becuz of weather/ice conditions up to now (Jan7th 4pm).

Having said that, coming back across Bay Bridge to The County, we were stunned to count almost ten individual Folks on the ice about 500 yds West of the Bridge - including some small structures.

We would NOT be one of them at this point, but who knows by the weekend.
