Have a couple fishing buddies coming from West of Toronto/Sarnia to fish tomorrow and Saturday. The bite seems to have really slowed around Belleville - or maybe that's just me. Anyone think is worth the 30 minute drive to Deseronto? I'd hate to see these guys get skunked...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Looks like you've been around a long time, compared probably to our 22 yrs in the Area. However, it might serve you well to read the Link further down the page from the The Ontario Conservation Officers Association (OCOA), even before deciding on the Attack Plan.

Particularly the part about Spudding, Cleats, Ice Thickness, etc. All useful info. Wish we could offer something more definitive, but hopefully you should be hearing about that from others in time. Guys?

Seems that Des area and Mohawk Bay(east of Forester's island) has had some ok fishing from reports I've heard, just parking lot chatter. I fished north side of the island Monday in 28ft and the current was very strong. 4" of ice maximum where I set up, would not recommend getting too close. Couldn't mark my own lure it was gone way off to the side. Packed up and started back toward the parking lot around 5:00 and decided to drill a hole and just finish off the evening out in the elements. This was maybe halfway between parking lot and Foresters. Ice was better. Got two within about 10 mins. 2-3lbs. Goin back to try again tomorrow

Greatly appreciate the advice. OCOA info page was also good - thanks. Think we'll do Point Anne this afternoon and if nothing then just a few hundred yards out from Deseronto tomorrow morning. Cheers.

Heard a guy had to be fished out on the north side Forester's Island in the last couple of days. The story was a gaff was used to hook his coat and pull him out.
Don't know if it's fact or fiction.
