Just wanted to say hello to all, new to the forum here. Hoping to learn a thing or two.
Not personal fishing spots per se (although, always welcome  )
Working and living in Ottawa, but always willing to travel to great fishing waters.
I'm actually new to ice fishing this year, don't know why... Went out on the Ottawa couple of weeks ago for the first time, and we caught 8 fish, mix small Sauger and a few Walleyes. so, that was it, I'm hooked.

Talking to a buddy of mine, and wanting to try our luck at some of these amazing fish at BOQ. Not expectations, but big hopes...and that's what fishing is all about, plus getting out there and enjoying the scenery.

I'm learning more and more that ice conditions can be quite different from area to area, and its recommended to go with someone who is knowledgeable of the ice.

Haven't picked where to fish yet, just trying to read as much as I can about it. Does anyone have any recommendations where would good/safe to go or WHERE NOT to go? Might even consider going with a guide. Any recommendations for a good local guide?

Ordered the "Deeper Pro Plus Sonar", hoping it will come in Monday, and we want to go fishing Tuesday. Pretty excited about it. I also fish from SUP and kayak, so i like its versatility.

Anyway, sorry for the long "Hello'. Looking forward to hearing from some of you, and learning more about ice fishing. Maybe even get to meet on the ice one day.

Mike

Welcome to the Board, Bud!

No need to explain anything to you; just READ the Posts from recent Days. Currently experiencing the Best Bite we've had in memory, so your timing couldn't be much better.

Good luck, stay SAFE.

Thanks for the shout-out Wordpecker! Thats sounds awesome... Thinking I'll try my first luck near Point anne. Has the ice been pretty safe there? Can't wait.

Not to worry; you'll hear from others.

Welcome to the form Mike.

The fishing is good in the Bay. I think the east end is the most consistent because of it's proximity to lake Ontario. But I really haven't ice fished west too much west of Deseronto.

You do have to be cautious of the ice. This year is pretty good but it can vary greatly all over the Bay and sometimes within a few feet.

If you go out from Deseronto beware of the north side of Forester's Island and west towards the bridge. The ice there can drastically change in 24 hrs, even when it's cold.

Lot's of info on the form, if you don't see what you want ask and I'm sure someone will get back to you, if not on the form, then a PM or email.

Have fun and good luck.
