Hi,

My friend wants to bring his wife ice fishing with him this weekend. She has cancer and it has greatly affected her mobillity so we are thinking of driving on the ice and taking her directy to the spot we will fish. We will be leaving from Rednersville area so any suggestion as to a point where we can simply drive onto the ice would be great. I was out just this weekend and the ice around that area was about 12 to 16 inch. Does anyone have any concerns we should be aware of with this plan?
Hope you guys can help and thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your buddy's wife. It would be nice to take her out. Sounds like your thinking about taking a car or truck out.

Is the Bay ice thick and consistant enough to be driving a vehicle on? I don't want to be a jerk, I'm just thinking about how she would manage getting out of a vehicle if the unforseen happens.

many years ago you could get on at the end of Weese side road in Rednersville, don't know about now. They were driving off Dufferin st. in Trenton but I haven't seen any vehicles out last weekend. Ice is still good and thick but I don't like driving my truck on it.

I just got off the ice from by Indian island. I would not go on the ice with a truck unless it was jacked up with big tires on it. Right now there are drifts 2 feet deep lots of water and slush. The water is coming up out of the auger holes due to the weight of wet snow. It was a tough go on my quad with chains in some areas.

Maybe hold off driving on the ice until conditions better.

Don’t suppose you’d have access to a sled/quad and trailer to pull? Another lighter option...
