Hey guys
I've never fished Quinte before, but plan on becoming a regular. I will be bringing truck, trailer, sled and flip over. I have two questions I hope you can help with.
1. What's the closest access, parking and reasonable fishing coming from the west?

2. If you had your pick without time or travel distance restrictions, where would you head to?

Not looking for anyone's honey holes. Just some starting points so I can figure it out on my own.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Best place to start is here. Then read all the posts you can. Good luck.

Yep; that's pretty much ALL you need.

Spend one night reading posts; you'll get enough of a 'Feel' for what The Bay Ice is all about.

Then feel free to ask more direct questions. Unfortunately not from US this year, haven't been out yet.

Okay, thinking about the area around Indian island. Will there be walleye in the area during the winter?
Is there parking on Dufferin Ave or close by?

Hello

I would not pick Indian Island as a good choice for Walleye. I am not saying people don't catch any however it is more of a perch spot from my experience and knowledge. If you are driving on a snowmobile you have tons of choices however if you are walking out the Trent River would be a better choice for me with regards to success (walk out on East side of mouth) is a relatively short walk and you can catch Walleye in the Channel and lots of perch on the edges (parking available as well). There is a decent current but latest I have heard all is safe and usually you can follow others out. I have fished in the mouth, up the river and out past the mouth with having similar success in each area. Lots of smaller walleye hanging on edges of the mouth of the river on East side. Baker Island is another option a bit more of a walk to get out to channel (by airforce base) but another option to consider. One last suggestion is to bring a flasher/sonar as quite Walleye like to be teased and without knowing that they are there makes it pretty tough to catch them, especially when they are not so aggressive which has been the case as of late. If you have a snowmobile Big Island is good just about anywhere once you get 400-500 yards from shore and I would follow the packs if you go that route. If you do not know how the high current areas please bring a spud, ask others and maybe also stick to used trails as they ice thickness changes dramatically from place to place to due current on the bay.

Good luck
Shawn

Thanks Guppy, do you know of a good place to park for Big Island? I don't mind paying.

Thanks Walleye Master, where is the parking. Is it right on Allison Rd? Any problem getting a sled on the ice from there?
