Got into a couple nice fish at Wellers Bay Friday. A buddy I met on the ice earlier on this season at Pt Anne talked a lot about the fishing here(had never been myself), so him being from up in Barrie he only makes a couple trips every season. Got a call last week, said he was coming down for the weekend so here we go. We launched in morning 7:30 off Edward Dr boat launch Consecon. Didn't have to walk very far to find 18ft. He seemed to know "the" spot.
Four of us got set up and didn't take me 15 minutes to hook into a beauty. She came in fast, like I didn't even have time to mark it. Just perch perch perch and bang. Wild hit. 12.10lb on the scale. PB for me no doubt! On a 3/4oz blue/silver cleo with an old frozen minnow I had on there from 3 days prior lol.
Got a few quick snaps and a quick weight and she was back down.

Second one came later in the morning and hit on a lipless crank bait, dry, no minnow. Just had it down trying to make a bit of noise as no one was seeing much on their graphs. 11.20lb male and 30 inches.

Aside from the two mondos I got hooked up on, it was a pretty slow day. Between the four of us just another one about 3lbs caught and kept for dinner. One was lost at the hole and a pike that broke off at the hole.
Needless to say I will be making my way back down there again next season. looking for that 14lb'er lol

First pic is the 11.20lb and Second one is the 12.10lb big girl

Well colour me surprised as well(unless ya'll are just messin with me lol)...buddy made it sound like this spot was the honey hole to end all honey holes. His PB from years past is a 13+ and says he always gets the hogs there every time.

Well, surely they are big lake fish coming in as these are prime breeding grounds I would say. Maybe it's a short window...thanks for the congrats. Other best fish on the season is an 8.5lb in Deseronto. Awesome to finally break double digits! cheers

A guy put his truck in off that launch yesterday ( he was 1.5km out supposedly) so use caution if you are on a motorized vehicle
