Cleaning the boat

Getting the boat ready yesterday and gave it a wash. Lot's of hard water spots. Tried several cleaners and polishing compound with no improvement.

Went to the web and it suggested white vinegar and a wipe down with a soft cloth.
Put some Allen's White Vinegar in a spray bottle and tried it.
A light mist and a wipe with a soft cloth and the water spots literally disappeared.

Because the vinegar is a acid, I followed up with a mop down of distilled water taken from the dehumidifier.
Spots are gone and I was super impressed how easy it was.

I use regular food grade vinegar, not cleaning vinegar which is much more acidic.

Hopefully, I can get the boat dirty again real soon.

Agreed. I learned this trick watching Nick Werner do his boat routinely after every trip. I use spray nine on the vinyl and interior spots that get dirty.

My 18 year old boat looks almost new with these 2 plus a good pressure washing of the carpet.

Awesome thanks. I fight every year. Usually heavy scrubbing and buffing and don’t even get it all. Will be on that next warm sunny day!! Cheera

For more stubborn spots try soaking a paper towel in vinegar then putting the paper towel on the area and leaving it sit. Come back to it an hour later and it will be gone. Works good for the lower section on the engine too

Works good on your electronics screens as well. Spots gone
