We are getting the boat ready to launch but need to clean up the hull. We pulled it late last year and it was too cold to pressure wash so we have a summers buildup of gunk on the hull. At least we can get the pressure washer out now. What would you recommend using to clean this off? What wax would you recommend after cleaning? We have a painted aluminum hull.

I blow off the heavy stuff with a power washer. Careful on your decals. Use a car bush and any brand of car wash for a good scrub and hose it off. Tried white vinegar in a spray bottle and a soft rag for the hard water spots. That worked great.
Finished with Lucas Detailing Wax Spray. I was getting lazy and the detailing wax was real fast and easy.
If you wanted a good wax job I've used Mothers California Gold Synthetic Wax.
Easy on and off and looks good. Canadian Tire has it.

I you hull has super serious crud on it then I'm not sure what's best.

“Spray 9 “ works great on my aluminum boat. Read instructions to verify it’s suitable for your boat’s hull.

I use a bucket with a car wash brush and for the heavy spot some armor all bug and tar remover. As for wax just plain old turtle wax .. Keeps it looking new...

If using a Power Washer be really, really CAREFUL!

Think it was Roblin warning about the Decals, BUT several power washers can peel the actual paint - don't ask how we know, okay?~

(FWIW: wasn't the Tinboat that got peeled. Oh no... it was our beloved TRUCK!!!~ And the Washer was NOT that powerful. Sadly, one nozzle had a rotating 'sh*tkicker head, and before we caught on, the g.d. thang ripped a glaringly visible strip off a nearly new Truck!)
