Quinte Fishing

Getting stir crazy waiting for the walleye opener and thought I would pose a question..

Who uses artificial bait other than grubs and what works for you?
Gulp worms, minnows, leaches? Colours? Jig head, snell…?

Buck tail jigs .., black with lil chartreuse green through it. Not a big fan of plastics , . No matter the time or weather bucktails always produce for me. Have real good luck jigging weeds on hotter days. If the fish are there they'll nail it. For me its either jigging bucktails or trolling mepps spinners or earie dearies ... early season last year i caught 7 fish all over 8 lbs all on bucktails .. there cheap n they work .. pro tackle has alot of them.., good deal too

Lots of ways to catch fish and everyone has they're favourites. I like twister tails and a worm harness.

I've experimented with colours and like chartreuse and brown but I'm sure there's lots of colours that work.

I tie my harnesses, which is cheap and easy with lots of how-to's on Youtube. You can get harness parts at Luremaking,com which is Canadian, so no exchange.

I find tying harnesses helps with the crazies.

The most success for walleye I have had is a pink and white mister twister, the front end is white with a pink tail. I usually tip the hook with a bit of worm and find it works wonders. Catches quite a few different species of fish.

I use small Gulp minnows on a bucktail jig or trolled on a worm harness.

I've done well on inland lakes with just a jig head and a Gulp leech

Worms are so great to get those fish who are just curious and follow the lure for a better look.

911 Baits Seiszure in chartreuse was a hot bait for me lastyear. Should be able to get them at High Falls.

Bucktail jigs for sure, and a Gulp Alive crawler or leech on a worm harness works good too. I find the Gulp Alive worm helps keep the perch away or from stealing the worm. With plastics on the worm harness your line actually stays in the water instead of reeling in every 5 minutes to add a new worm. If you're an old school guy that believes in live bait, you can use a live worm with a plastic worm on the harness then you always have some sort of bait on there. Paddletail baits on a jighead also.

Ive done well around the weeds throwing the jackall glossy shad and 911 Baits Seizure in chartreuse both using a plain jighead
