Hi guys...hope the cold turkey is going well. Does not looking out on that water bring a case of the 'twitches'.?

Help needed again....boat lift is in the water, but not the boat. Lift has wire cable slings (sheathed) but not happy with them. Seems such a small diamater of cable taking all that weight in such a concentrated area of the hull when the boat is raised. Trying to source a supplier of canvas boat slings around 10 -12 Inches wide to distribute the weight of the boat/motor a little more efficiently than the existing cable sytem, when the boat is raised clear of the water. Have checked out the web with little success.

Anyone help me out re the Quinte area? :?:

My thanks in advance

Mac

Your local upholsterer may be able to help you. That is where my neighbor got his. Not sure where exactly but it was in this area. I'll ask him when I see him.

Managed to find this site and would appear they provide what I am looking for. Thought I would share it should anyone else be looking for the same slings.

Just an idea. Have you tried your local fire dept for old fire hose? Maybe you could adapt that to what you want.

My brother-in-law worked for a company in Brampton called BISON who made slings for airplanes and the like. I have one used for towing and was made for a 20,000 lift. Try them and they're not in the states either. If you need someone to get it to you, I'll bring it with me when I come up during the Friday of the opener. Mention Frank Harvey and I think the Girl who makes them is named Sylvia. Email me if you need more info. And by the way this sling is probably only 3" wide and made of canvas I think.

.Thanks Stan, will check that out tomorrow. Won't be buying from the US Company as it happens...That robbing shower UPS quoated me $85 U.S. to ship them up here...and that does not include their 'Broker' (a huge gouge...daylight robbery) and tax. So looking to Canada if at all possible. Always try to buy in Canada but some items items are not always available....

Will let you know how I get on

Cheers

Mac
