Got out on Friday night around 6:30 hoping to get some fishing done before the expected winds and rain on Saturday. Fished around the green can at Catalaque back to Green Point in about 15' of water. After 5 minutes of dropping the bottom bouncers down we had a nice 2lb fish for the table and were optimistic it would be a good night. Fished for another two hours and couldn't keep the perch and silver bass off of our worms but no more of the intended species. Retired back to the cottage to discuss strategy over a few beers.

Went back out Saturday morning around 7:00 and fished the opposite side of the reach from Huffs to the cables. Could only drift as the wind and waves were making it pretty difficult to control the boat and speed. After about three hours of pulling perch and more silver bass off the line we had a nice strike and pulled in a 3lb fish just in front of the cables. Stuck it out for another hour and with the winds picking up again turned around and called it a day.

Tough day fighting the weather but had a few fillets for a nice Fathers Day dinner.

Try using rubber worms on your harness. Gulp Alive works well. Helps keep the smaller fish away and keeps your line in the water. I've also used live bait in combination with artificial, then if you lose your worm you still have the rubber on.

Thanks for the tip Walleye 9, I'm going to give that a shot on the next trip.

I've had a package of gulp worms in the tackle box for a couple of seasons but always have it in my mind they won't be as effective as the real deal.
