On Thursday I was in Trenton and drove hiway 2 back to Belleville. Most sections of the bay were frozen over including the mouth of the Trent river. Today the boat is being winterized and the ice huts and sled are being unwinterized, if that's even a word. Fingers crossed santa brings us early ice for xmas

That’s exciting to hear! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for the same thing.

As always I expect that potters creek will be first ice in the Bellville area. Maybe I will see you there next weekend. It’s a bit of a drive through but it is usually the first safe ice. BATMAN

Lordy, PLEASE be careful about assuming The Bay has 'Safe Ice'.

That 4" snow dump in the last few days could NOT happen at a worse time. Without that snow, we MIGHT have had a shot at pre-Christmas Fishing.

HOWEVER... with the unusually high Temps (41 F) over the next couple days here, there is NO WAY we're close to SAFE Ice. NOBODY will know what's under that snow until we get a REAL Freeze Up.

Potters might LOOK good, but there's also run-off from the Creek to consider, along with distance from Shore to reach Fishing Depth.

We know it will be tempting, but you won't see US out there.

Rgds, Wordpecker.
