Rumour has it ice fishermen had to be rescued yesterday, I do not have the details. Can’t imagine anyone actually ventured out, the wind and mild weather is the worst scenario for creating hazardous ice. Last winter we fished off George Street, good solid ice , big winds and couple days later same spot was open water.

Yup, taking risks and putting others in danger shouldn’t be covered by the taxpayers.

I love fishing but I love living too! Never have seen a fish worth dying for! There will always be those who feel that they have to push the limits! They are not only putting themselves at risk but also the first responders who have to save their asses! They should be billed for such rescues!

If anyone read the report, the two guys were sitting ice fishing,no one went through the ice,who ever called police jumped the gun.

Totally irresponsible whether a seasoned angler or not, plus temps all week and these 2 head to a high current area putting themselves and first responders at risk.

If the choice is paying a few thousand bucks, or having your soggy corpse found in the spring.........I know what one I would choose.
