Anyone done any fishing in and around Sheffield Conseravtion Area out by Stone Mills? Specifically Little Mellon Lake but also Mellon lake. Looks like an awesome little spot to take the kayak for pike but not much info other than that theres apparently pike and bass with walleye in the bigger lake.

Thanks, Zach

We camped there every spring for a number of years on the big lake. Lots of bass and pike. The walleyes are there but we maybe caught 1 or 2 a trip. There are a number of crown land campsites on the lake and the lake is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend it for an camping trip or day fish.

Little Mellon and the lake to the south west are pretty lakes. Great for kayak or canoe. Some fish but nothing too exciting. There's a beaver dam between the two that you can slide over. Also a nice hike around the lakes.

The better lake is Mellon Lake on the east side. There's a real steep, rough launch south of the Dark Sky. Only really suitable for tin cans, canoes and kayaks. You have to pass under 41 hwy going east to get to Mellon. There was a beaver dam under the bridge, if it's still there you can pull over it. Better fishing there. I find it more of a scenic tour, which is good.

No other public access.
