Assuming the usual preambles about no ice being safe ice and that we are all responsible for our own safety, I am wondering about the ice around Baker Island? I live 3 hours away, or I would check myself. I just like that area as I know it better than most other parts of the Bay. Thank you for any info you can offer.

There were huts out S. of Baker's Is. this afternoon.... 4-5" of ice I believe. First time I'd seen any out there this year. Lots of huts out from Potter's [ Quinte Conservation ] and east to the bridge...

Sorry Turk, did not make it up with the brutal weather. Hoping to come this weekend. Depends if my buddy can kick his cold tho. He is rough and we were planning on getting a hotel room and staying til Monday.

Are there any quads or snowmobiles on that section...near the Island and coming from Bain? And again, I would not take that as any form of assurance from you. Cheers.

No...and there won't be for a while. Haven't seen any anywhere yet. Baker's has 3-5" now, but nobody's going out more than 1/3 the way across

Thanks again for the feedback. I can leave the machines at home then. Might be time to try and build a Smitty sled. I have had the skis for a bit but have never tackled it. Cheers and again, I genuinely appreciate the info.
