Is George St. Ramp still open ?

Talked with a friend who used it yesterday. At this time city of Belleville has kept launches open

I was there this morning and Herchimer. No barricades or signs. Me, I would call the city to confirm.

So, I checked the City of Belleville website and it states that "In alignment with the Ontario Government’s emergency order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act to close all outdoor recreational amenities, both Meyers Pier and Victoria Harbour will remain closed until further notice."
Which seems inconsistent with other city launches being left open.

I called By-Law to check and it almost sounds like it might have been an over site. The officer I spoke to was going to check and see because it seemed inconsistent with other measures.

I guess we won't know until someone makes the trip to see if they post it or not.

Think about it. What would make this ramp any different than all the other ones that are closed. Do you think that is the only ramp in Ontario where there is no threat of contacting the virus if a bunch of people show up?????

Deseronto ramp open on weekend, saw a few get on water, didn't see any come back, some docks myst be in early?
Baracades put up Monday when town staff got back to work, could be the issue elsewhere.

I got the call this afternoon saying George st ramp still was open. Couple trucks and trailers there too

Was just at George St and it is CLOSED

City boat launches closed

In alignment with the Ontario government’s emergency order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act to close all outdoor recreational amenities, both City of Belleville boat launches have been closed to the public until further notice.

Barricades and signage will be installed at both the Herchimer Avenue and South George Street launches, and residents are being asked to comply with these closures.

The City of Belleville remains committed to providing the essential services citizens rely on every day while continuing to respond to this unprecedented situation, the city stated in a media release.

I am fortunate enough to just be able to launch my boat on my own property.That being said is the closure of boat launches not just a touch point for potential transmission and gathering place but also an avenue to limiting people on the water to reduce the strain on the first responders? Not sure how guilty I would feel having to need them because I am fishing alone and something happens. Just being a devils advocate. I fish by myself basically everyday and I have had some close calls? Not saying I won't go fishing if the season is open, kinda glad bass season isn't till June for the first time ever.

If Belleviile hadn't closed, everyone would be heading there, just to get their boat wet. Possibly a new epicenter. When there's a fish to be had, our grasp of common sense can be pretty shaky.

The bottom line for me and I hope others is I'm staying home. I don't want to get sick, I don't want anyone to get sick because of me. I'm not going to be the guy that breaks with the flock. This will pass and hopefully, if we follow the rules, we'll all stay well and be fishing soon enough.

Yep i gotta agree with you there, we need to take all precautions we have at our disposal. I sent a letter over to the MNR yesterday to have the season closed for 2020. We just can't risk it. Hopefully if the MNR is smart, they will shut this down immediately to help us all out ! The hunting has to go as well for the foreseeable future and maybe assessed in 2021.
