This sounds like bad idea the hole reason municipalities are shutting down there public boat launches is to protect the community’s that live around the areas...# one reason is to stop people from travelling from larger cities to fish look how many fisherman travel to quinte to fish the gold...so far KFLA 54 cases of covid19 no new cases in week let’s keep it that way

What about all the new Canadians that travel here from the cities and camp out in thier vehicles along the water ways every weekend. Is someone going to prevent this or do they figure closing the local boat launches a due dilagence and avoid the conflicts of the other.

Good for them for taking a common sense approach. Even the busiest boat launch doesnt cause people to get within 6 ft of each other. Just because there are a bunch of rigs parked at a launch doesnt mean social distancing measures arent being followed.

I would think that the Glenora launch is in Greater Napanee's region.

Yes glenora is greater napanee. Finkles is loyalist township. Picton should be PEC though.

This will be interesting....

The law closing the ramps is provincial. Municipalities cannot over ride it.

Police could still issue tickets regardless of what PEC says.

Right of way to the water is not recreational. Province did not call for boat ramps to be closed.

There is no law closing launches. The provincial act specifically excludes mentioning boat launches, some municipalities have incorrectly interpreted that way. Or they have just decided since they are closing playstructures, picnic gazebos etc it’s easier to close everything. Either way it’s the local municipality call.

Jjz,

I understand the order under the EMCPA does not specifically mention boat ramps......it will come down to if a boat ramp is considered an outdoor recreational amenity.

I do hope you are right.

From the actual statute......

(2) Outdoor recreational amenities that are intended for use by more than one family are closed, regardless of whether they are publicly or privately owned and regardless of whether they are attached to a park system.

You put your boat in the water and you go away, as long as no one is playing with their balls it is not recreational. The other thing is the right of way with the boat ramp is used by a farmer to water cows.

just to be clear are these opinions or facts
IMHO
It's all open to interpretation by the local council and law enforcement.
Perhaps some local Authorities don't want the opening day gong show and will keep ramps closed?
Acting like a dick head with the Officers is a sure way to get a tight interpretation.
Keep looking for loopholes and posting online so others can follow suit is a sure way to get the season delayed or shut down
Just my opinion
