Please understand that once again, I am not trying to stir up trouble.

This is by far the best fishing forum and am not asking this question on social media. I don't want to have it blow up with negativity and opinions.

I'm hearing from reliable sources and reading social media posts that launches may open May 12th.

Anyone have any links or documentation, clearly stating this is being considered?

The only thing I've found is Doug Ford's get out and fish from shore comment, including something about fishing being opened May 12th and (think) that may be what others consider as a boat ramp opening date? Not sure though.

Please - no need for comments like to "stay home and wait!" or "be patient..." I'd like confirmed details if available.

Dan and Mods - if you feel in any way this is not an appropriate request for information within the "Beg n Brag" thread, please feel free to delete.

Thanks everyone.

I believe these rumours are based on the fact that Ontario Declared a State of Emergency which expires on May 12th, it was extended for 28 days on April 14th, odds are it will be extended again probably to incorporate the 3 step plan, whose details have yet to be released. Yesterday I was told that Crates Marina in Belleville was launching boats May 12, a quick google search and found the following info on their website

"Yesterday the Ontario Government unveiled its three stage “road map” to reopen the province following weeks of being shut down to help slow the spread of Covid-19. While there are no specific dates, the plan is broken into 3 stages to gradually reopen. We are not sure if we are part of the first phase at this point but we are hopeful our re-opening date remains May 12 as per the original state of emergency order"

Even they are not sure but do have plans in place just in case, notice "we are not sure" and "hopeful"
I think those 2 phrases would best some up an answer to your question.

You need to contact your municipality, it is 100% their call. They can open launches tmo if they want, or like many municipalities, they could have kept them open for the last month and a half.

I wrote an email to city council with some suggestions on how they could open launches and maintain people's safety. They took a few days to respond but essentially the answer was we are following public health recommendations. They also noted surrounding municipalities also have their launches closed. They won't be opened until it comes from public health. I do have access to a couple locations I can launch just haven't decided if I'm going to or not.

Thanks Dan.

It's confusing that some launches are and some are not.

If they fall under "Outdoor Recreational Amenities'," but not listed as such, it may not be until the soccer fields, playground equipment etc open.

I guess I have more time to reorganize.

Cheers!

Go fishing if you have a chance to get out on the bay. Looking forward to the report and pics!

I wish the municipalities would just be honest and say “yes launches could be open but we are choosing to stay closed because BOQ/ Lake O/St Lawr river are destination fisheries and we dont want to encourage excessive travel” I think most people would accept that but by putting it on Prov government or the public health unit they look silly because you can drive 15mins north and see launches open.

You don't think ramps fall under the provincial legislation? Because that is the reasoning all ramps closed around the same time as parks, sports fields, picnic areas, beaches, etc. Just because a ramp is not physically blocked off, doesn't mean it is not legally still closed.

I have not seen one piece of information from any municipality stating they closed their own municipal ramps. And if they closed their own municipal ramp, and someone used it, what would they be charged with???

Not going to make it that easy for ya! Drive north of BOQ in Land o lakes region and you will find lots of lakes to fish with open launches.

Sorry to hear, that is a kick in the nuts and really a sign of how crazy this has become. You cant even have access to your own property.
