I've always though you're allowed to use 2 lines, once past the Picton Ferry.

A friend recently told me this isn't true...that you must be on Lake Ontario and the water between Amherst Island for example, is technically part of Lake O but that of the Rideau and or St. Lawrence.

Is there any truth to this?

Thanks

I called the MNR on March 26th about two rods as I want to run a crank on a planer and a spinner behind me. I was put on hold and when she returned, she said I was allowed to run two rods as long as I was West of the Glenora Ferry. I made it very clear that I launch in Deseronto and fish there and down the Reach and she said I was good to have two rods. Hope this helps.

East of the Ferry for 2 rods. I wouldn't recommend you run 2 rods West of the ferry or in Long reach. Have another look at the regs

One line west of the ferry, two lines east. From the regulations:

Does an exemption not mean the existing rule (one line per angler) does not apply, hence two are allowed West of Glenora? I can never seem to find this info on the MNR site, which is why I called. I wanna be legal here so need clarity.

It reads correctly. Lake Ontario is the rule, the list is the exception to the rule. ie Bay of Quinte

150% it’s 2 lines east of the ferry and 1 line west of.

That is the law, go fishing :)

You can always count the number of hooks that you have on your one rod west of the ferry, it's an alternative to multiple rods, multiple lures - count the hooks.

Many fishers use three way rigs for extra hooking power.

Thanks for the help clearing this up.
Spoke with a charter operator and confirmed the 1 rod rule. Sorry if I only added to the confusion, not my intent!
