We were out to fish for the first time this morning, PerfectlyPat and myself hit the water around 0945 got the lines in the water, had a good pull in five minutes and then the first eye of the season was landed, TOO Small, back it went to grow up.
I was hitting fish on a Silver Swinger, so I switched her rod to the magic lure. She soon started catching fish, a 16 incher, a 17.5 incher and then a 16.5 incher. Over the Boat size of at least 15 inches.
It felt good to be out and feeling the tug on the rod.
We fished southeast of Ram Is. until 1200 noon. There were about 20 boats and pontoons west of Ram IS.
Our total was 14 strikes, 10 landed, three kept for the table, combined with several perch, a sunfish and of course the obligatory Sheepshead. We were both happy to get out on the water and enjoy the morning.
All I heard yesterday was how good the bite has been in Hay Bay the last week, albeit small fish, there are fish there and they're biting.
Stay Tuned
