PerfectlyPat & I hit the water this morning after reading BigMac's post about trolling near Shermans Pt.
We were able to troll downwind with a south wind. Made one trolling pass and restarted to go downwind, reduced the weight size and lengthened the line behind the boards.
We hadn't traveled 100 yds and the board fired, she was into a fish. With the boat moving and the planer board fighting her, the strength to fight the fish and board wasn't happening. I reeled the board in and handed her the rod. This was a substantial fish and with much coaxing and advise, she was able to bring it to the net and the fish was ours.
She said she hadn't fought anything like that ever. Got the scales and measured the fish, 6.5 lbs and 28.5 inches - What a beauty. Three quick pix and the fish was back in the water swimming away.
A PB is always a good thing and this was it for her.
Thanks again to BigMac for his post - showing those big wide grins from the girls.
Back to the dock and back to town for a couple days - we'll be back for the weekend.
Hay Bay and area has been HOT!!!!!!
