Good day fisherman and fisherwoman,
I am new to the site just moved from Winterpig (Winnipeg) to Kingston. I have two boys and we love to fish although we do not eat fish :) I have a small 14 feet John boat with 7.5hp motor so maybe not good for the big lake.
I am looking for a shore fishing spot for fresh water drum/ sheepshead, willing to travel with in 100km around Kingston. I have read some post for the sheepshead fishing but all for boating is there any shore spot for this fish any input will be very appreciated TIA.Tom

There was a Fish N Canada show a few years ago that featured Sheepshead and how they will take jigs. It was filmed in Picton Bay close to the west shore. Go to their website and you'll be able to find it and see the big ones.

You will be able to launch at McFarlene's Park or at the Picton Harbour launch, a short hop and you're on the fish.

Enjoy your boys fishing. Tight Lines

Those things are pretty much everywhere these days. But if you want to get close to lots from shore, check out the south side of the bay bridge and also the north side of the bay bridge, on the causeway. Lots in both spots.

Park behind the RMC pool close to the water. Walk on the north side of the lasalle causeway to the NE corner of the boatway that links the inner to the outer harbour. There are large rocks from which you and your boys can sit and comfortably cast jig heads (1/2 oz) tipped with a white twister tail. Bring a net. Wear polarizing lenses and you will be able to spot them cruising the bottom and feeding.

I've done very well in the past, jigging with Vibratos when targeting sheephead.

I found I needed to let it hit bottom, quickly jig and bounce off bottom again to stir up silt, then rest for a few seconds with it just off bottom and they'd try to pin the jigs like a bass.

Good luck.
