Portable gas generator/Inverter....what size?

Where I store my boat there is no electricity so my 2 - 12V batteries (in series) pay a price. I'm thinking of getting a portable gas generator or inverter to charge up the batteries (using a 2 bank Minn Kota charger) in addition to the onboard alternator charger.

Would anyone know what size of inverter I should get to charge the 2 x 12v deep cycle batteries? I've heard 1000W, then I heard, no you need to 2000 W.
Need help.

The wattage of a standard smart charger (Genius) is 350 watts so a 1000 watt inverter/generator would work and you could even
go down to a 500 . Why not hook up a solar charger, Canadian Tire has them on sale all the time and you could just leave it on
to charge the batteries. Solar chargers are used in RV battery banks a lot

I second the solar. Very slow charge but it’s a really good charge. If we drain our 2 batteries and know we aren’t fishing for the rest of the week we will put them on the solar. And that way it’s a nice slow charge and the batteries seem to love that

Agreed! I have a 100w solar panel/charge controller set up that trickle charges the batteries when stored....and a 30w on the dash when up the river for days at a time.

My bil has had a couple of inverters go up in a ball of flames, go solar.
