looking to go for salmon at least once this year. Did the drive from Kingston to Wellington a few times past years just to get skunked, so thinking Coburg. Anyone know how long a ride it is from the Coburg launch to 100 ft of water? Any other useful info. about the launch?
Never been there.

Cobourg has a single launch but it is pretty good. It gets packed first thing in the AM with boats. Launch is right downtown. 100' is approx 1.5 - 2 miles out from memory. 300' is a little closer to get to mid day if you need, closer than Wicklow is.

Other than that, i prefer to fish out of cobourg due to the proximity of deeper water there.. still a fair good run out to 250' but very doable on calm days.

staging fish no reson to go deep, 10 buks includes launching, parking and day docking

Ended up going to Bluffers but will try Coburg or Port Hope next time for a shorter ride from Kingston. Didn't mark much, but had 4 fish on that got off, and 4 knock offs. think I need to change my line, what is recommended? I've been told to switch from mono to braid, or Trilene Big Game. I have 9 ft flurocarbon leaders off my flashers. Was using NK and Nasty Boy spoons. Too much stretch in my mono for good hook sets? Came back with a nice rainbow at least. Was also told about salmon 'flies' for the dipsy divers. Any advise is appreciated as I havn't fished salmon much in 20 years but would like to get back into it.

I have just learned about salmon fishing this year, and for a great launch, I would suggest Wicklow, just east of Cobourg. We went straight out from there and have done fairly well. Multiple fish over 20lbs. We have been using 25 or 30# Big Game, mainly spoons have been best. Now starting to look back to the Bay for the upcoming months!

I would recommend using the bowfishing method. Salmon fishing with a bow and arrow is an exciting and challenging way to catch these fish. It is important to have the right equipment and to know where the fish will likely swim. The right technique will also help you to be successful. When salmon are spawning, they return to the same rivers where they were born. This makes them easier to find. They are often found in areas with fast-moving water. It is important to look for areas where the water is deep and where there are plenty of rocks or logs for the fish to hide behind. Once you have found a good spot, it is time to set up your equipment. You will need a bow, arrows, fishing line, and a reel. You can get them from bowarchery.com. It is also a good idea to partner with you so that one person can fish while the other keeps an eye on the equipment.

I thought bow fishing for Salmon was illegal...I assume you have Native Status ??

BTW...you don't "catch" a Salmon with a bow and arrow...just like you don't "catch" a Deer with a rifle...
