With the low winds yesterday launched out of waupoos and headed out to the islands for some smallmouth fishing. The water is stained green with reduced clarity. Found a bunch of smallies but no monsters, most were in the 3 lb range. Heaviest of the day was a 4.4 looked deep and shallow and found most of the fish were in 16-22'. There were about 15 boats out trolling for walleye and I kinda kept an eye on them as I fished and everyonce in a while one of the boats was reaching for a net to scoop a fish. I realized I had a few crankbaits and a couple trolling rods in the boat so decided to switch over hoping to make it a mutispecies day but no luv. Saw lots of marks suspended at 30 ft and deeper.

Hi Dan -
Thanks for the local-to-me report!
re: 'trolling for walleye' - were they after walleye or salmon/trout? That's not an area that I would have thought to hold targetable populations of walleye, unless they are migrating through this time of year?
Always looking to learn,
Dano

Dan - I'm still finding Lake O to be a bit nasty and not wanting us to find the smallies.

I was out Friday and although we got some, they were small and 1 here, 1 there etc. The areas I normally do well at, are not and am not finding much in shallow.

I don't think the green water and lack of clarity is helping.

They gotta turn up and on at some point...just hope we're all there when this happens. :-)

Good luck!

Cheers

Paul
