Sometimes taking selfies reversed everything, like in a mirror, so it probably read 6.1lbs. Great start nonetheless though! I’d be happy with that this time of year.

Good news and bad news here

The bad news is that’s probably maybe a 9lbs fish

The good news is you didn’t eat a 16 lbs fish ! Lol

This comes up everytime someone posts a picture of a "trophy" fish and it really isn't anybody's business what they did with it. (Hopefully it doesn't get wasted) i don't keep fish but would be naive if i thought all the fish i release go on to make another angler happy, they may not all live but they got a chance and if they didn't then they are now part of a food chain. I would be willing to bet that most anglers couldn't tell the difference between a 2lb Walleye and a 16 lb walleye if they were prepared the same. We shouldn't have to worry about negative comments because we post a picture of a fish that made us happy.

The fish gave up on me and I couldn't revive it after bringing it in. So you bet I brought it home, I'm not wasting a fish.

As for the weight, I suppose I was the only one on the boat holding the scale. It's a "Beg & Brag" board, whether or not someone is expert enough to second guess my fish tale is of no concern to me. I'm on the lake 4 days a week for most of the season, my scale didn't stop working because the species changed that day. Scotch Bonnet Walleye aren't built like the pond fish in the bay. :D

Any fish is a good fish.. any fish that ruffles feathers is a great fish.

If you cannot tell the difference between a 2 lb fish and a big fish you have no taste buds.

Any veteran fisher should know pictures don't tell all. I've caught small fish and in the pictue it looked huge, but I've also caught big fish and in the pictue they look small.
But i'm curious if anyone did the length and girth calculations using the 28" length and 24" girth measurements that were given... it might surprise you.

Exactly.
Seems his fish is on the very plump side of the things. The 750 shape factor doesn't seem realistic so the 21.5 lb calculation doesn't seem to apply. But from the other chart, 9.2 lb is based on an average weight for an average fish which also doesn't seem to apply.
.And like all stories that have two sides, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. Which puts us right around the 15.4 mark.
So maybe 16.1 isn't so far off after all.

You’re right it’s really notanybody’s buisness what we do with our caught fish. However, if you post a picture of a “trophy” fish on news papers and expect no one to say anything you’re crazy. That’s just my opinion

Nice fish. Fish that ruffle feathers are my favourite.

Jealousy is a stinky cologne as they say.

I don't know about you, but I'm not one to waste a dead fish.

I posted a fish I caught about 10 years ago, 34.5" length and 32.5 girth. Weight on scale 18.3 lbs. Everyone had their opinion on the real weight... "can't be more than 12 from the picture", "10 lbs Max" etc...
I know how big the fish was and the weight, that was all that mattered. Had my brother there as a witness. Caught in 20ft of water and it swam away...

You said it was at the bonnet?
Care to give any more details?
Thanks
