Salmon River

I was driving up Hwy 41 (north of Napanee), and came to a small town called Roblin, which had a public boat launch into the Salmon River. Does anyone know what types of fish runs in the river in that area, and how deep it is, places to avoid, etc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have fished it many times, the river is fairly consistant on depth right up the middlle
of 8-10 feet with many twists and turns. I have been almost to Tamworth but was
halted by a large tree across the river. BTW its not advisable to go under the bridge
and go south. Have caught walleye. LM, perch, mudcats,small northerns and
once a herring. A small aluminum with an electric or small motor is all you need.
Nice way to spend a day on the river.

Sounds like a great place for a Canoe and trolling motor. I just may have to check it out.

When driving to Wellington yesterday from Kingston I noticed Salmon river from the 401, and thought this would be a good river to fish from a kayak. Any information about where to fish and what to expect would be appreciated.

Years ago I used to fish it from various places just from the bank. I mostly got small Bass, Pan fish and Pike. I know there was a place to put in a Canoe/Kayak by the Bridge at hwy #2. Should be able to travel north up to the 401 from there.

i fish the salmon river all the time for walleye after opener just down off of hwy 2 by the gas station, we do very well you dont need a boat its shallow right there probly 5-6 feet, we catch alot of nice ones there biggest was 7 lbs , its just down on a dirt road like 20 sec off hwy 2 on your right hand side, there will be a bir circle you can turn around on and docks at the ends..

Hi.

Looking for river to explore for the day with lady, and enjoy fall scenery, any particular reason why going south from Roblin under bridge is not suggested? Which river would make a better all day adventure. Moira river or salmon river

Great river for a paddle. Good launch at Roblin. If your running a motor watch for submerged logs. Lots of geocaches along it, if your interested in that.
