I've still been going out for pike the past few weekends. Our catches have been steadily declining which has been discouraging because we never really hit our highs from previous years. In past years on a good day each guy would catch double digits but for the boat we've caught 14, 11, 7 and then 2 for the past four trips.

It was cold last Saturday morning! We launched, motor took a bit to get going, but that wasn't our big problem because the motor wouldn't move as the steering arm was frozen in place I guess. I was bending the weaker push rod (right name?) but couldn't budge the motor. We had an extra McDonalds coffee and poured it on the rod and after a couple of pours, it loosened up and we were good to go. Now we have to get a coffee for the boat because you never know when it may come in handy!

I was going to pack it in until lake trout in December but with the nice weather this weekend I think I may give it one more shot.

My son and I probably will also be trying our luck this weekend. Assuming the weather is not snotty, we'll be out in an 18' cedar boat. Give me a wave if you see us.

Bill - good luck this afternoon - I'm hoping to see one of your pic-heavy reports this evening!

Best to all - be safe,
Dano

Pike and bass are still active.
Try down sizing and a little slower.
I got out Friday for a couple of hours and boated a dozen largemouth (2, 3, and a few in the 4s)and a few pike (3 to 7)
