Slow day today. Gave the trolling a few hours then pulled lines and played with smallmouth in the gap. Think of all the dozens of boats out at aldophus reach I only saw a net lifted once. Frustrating watching this on the screen.

A few years ago I asked a Fishery Biologist, what were all the hooks on the finder this time of year. The answer was, who knows?
I took it, that you can't assume the hooks are what your looking for.
Too bad.
I was really hoping the storm would stir things up.

I'm curious ...
If fish does not take deep diving crankbaits will it be chasing large ( 5-6+ inch) swimbaits?

One thing is not clear ...
At what depth swimbait travels (at least approximately)?
There are diving charts for major crankbaits.

Assume I'd put 1 oz. jig and 2-3 oz. weight clip 50 feet above.
I troll with 1.4 mph.
I put 200 feet braided line into the water. I can use 15 or 30 lb braided line.
Guys. At which depth do you think my swimbait would travel.

Yes Dan.
It's frustrating when it does not matter what you try northing works.
But let's see from a positive site. You were able to enjoy being outside, fishing in a beautiful lake. There are not to many days left before we can't use boats.
Day of fishing is a gift by itself. Fish is a bonus.

Couldn't agree more...especially since we were one of the boats fishing without any luck.

Sure did enjoy being out though and the coffee, snacks and great time still, were worth it. :-)

Maybe somebody can set us straight on this?

Seem to recall only two sets of Treble Hooks are allowed on a Lure?

Stickbaits can 'sport' three sets, counting a tail treble, and that may not be legal.

Anybody know?

Cut and paste from Ontario reg's:

Hook...A hook includes a single-pointed or multiple-pointed hook on a common shaft but does not include a snagger or spring gaff. The number of hooks includes any single-pointed or multiple-pointed hooks that are part of a lure.

Hooks and lines...An angler may use only one line, unless otherwise stated in the regulations. Two lines may be used when angling from a boat in parts of the Great Lakes and for ice fishing in many areas. A fishing line must not have more than four hooks attached.

So you can actually use a single lure with 4 trebles, or (not uncommon when downrigging) one body bait with 3 trebles and a spoon with a treble on a stacker.

if you weren't allowed more than 2 trebles on a stick bait...half the inventory of Storm, Bagley's, and Rapala wouldn't be on the shelves.
