Hi Guys, we fished the Hay Bay & surrounding areas from May 20-23 on our annual trip.

We found the numbers & sizes were somewhat lower than other years but still had a great time. The larger fish were taken trolling minnow baits after dark and included a 28 & 29.5"er

We had some luck casting cranks over the weeds around Ram and then got into some more fish in the flats trolling red spinners with white plastic grubs.

As always, there were about a zillion hammer handle pike to contend with, but their good for breaking the monotony when the eyes are taking a break :D

Also found the numbers of cormorants to be way down this year and we only saw one flock of about 25-30 birds flying past Thompsons. I saw a news cast yesterday where their talking about another cull of 6000 birds in Presquille in the coming weeks.

I was amazed at the numbers of dead sheephead & carp floating around the area this year, but according to a Belleville news report, they claim it's just a natural thing and nothing to be concerned with.

Always a great trip to the Bay in the spring, and we'll see ya'll again in another year

Good report Lew, nice to see someone is getting some fish in Hay Bay. Lots of glummy reports and fishers that I've talked to appear not to have your success.

C U next Year.
