FYI. I was on Eel bay on the weekend. 5.5 inches of ice. Although as I walked down the trail it was unnerving to see Sydenham Lake wide open. And yes I know that Eel bay is part of Sydenham Lake but I think you get it. I went again last night and FYI for those who cut through the cottage property on the island to get on the ice there is now signage up everywhere NO TRESSPASSING and NOW SNOWMOBLIES along with caution tape blocking the path.

I was out there Jan 4th... It was thin but ok. Soft spots were for sure present. I rent a cottage every summer in eel Bay and hammer pike and bass with the occasional crappie. Was my first time fishing it in the winter. What are people going after for the most part in Sydenham in the winter? I managed 6 Pike's while I was there and a few small perch.

Pike and Crappie. The Crappie are late in the day and after dark usually. You really have to watch the ice by the bridges. There is some current there and it should be avoided for sure. And look up you might see a Bald eagle :)
