Fished put of herchimer this evening. Where I was there was just under 4" of mostly grey ice. Fish were slow but ended up with a couple in the 2-4lbs range. Friend with me got one just over 5 lbs. Perch were pesky and fish timid. Coming back in the ice started cracking pretty good with a couple of good and loud cracks right under foot. Luv when that happens :P
Be safe out there no ice is safe this year

Nothing wrong with that Dan. I was out too across the Bay from you. Quite a few around, but I couldn't get them to bite. Getting some big perch this year though...some 12+". There's close to 8" of ice over here.

"There no ice is safe this year" - Dan.

Amen to THAT, Dan.

Could NOT agree more.

However, we won't be surprised to see a TON of Folks out there on the Weekend.

We won't be among them... according to our Wife.~

Rgds, Wordpecker.

We were out Saturday afternoon from noon to dark. Stopped about 150 yards north of the channel, but kind of wish we kept going now. Were in 15 feet of water. I had 7 inches of ice, most of it very good. Maybe one inch white on top. Some small pressure cracks, plus the big one nearer to the south shore, but it was about 300-400 yards from us at least. Lots of huts, only small perch for a friend and I. But still great to get out. Glad I had an insulated hut tho as my heater broke and it was a long 6 hours.

Wanted to say that every single guy we saw was awesome to talk to. And not being sexist, just did not see any women in our travels on the lake. We are newer to this and guys were kind in terms of helping each-other load/unload, volunteering what to look for, baits they have had luck with, how they fish them etc. One guy even offered to share his fish with us. Made getting skunked less painful. Cheers if you are that kind of fisherman/woman.

Slow at Herchimers tonight, lots of dinky perch, no obvious walleyes marked. Went out to 16 feet of water adjacent to the last open water, near the north edge of the main channel. Same story at Potters Sunday night.
