Just bought a new hut and I’m excited to try it out. Does anyone have suggestions on where to go also how many inches of ice are on the bay currently?

The bay can vary a lot! I would say you're most important tool on the bay is a spud. I don't go out without it anymore. I had it last year where I went out from shire and started on about a foot of ice...and ended on about 3 inches. It can change so fast.

TylerCurt a few years back had a post about ice locations and shore access spots I believe. And if you search for that post...you'll be able to find a lot of the locations that people on this board are talking about.

Welcome aboard and enjoy that new hut you're going to need it for this weekend with the cold forecast coming. The main thing to understand about the bay is the ice is not the same everywhere. Look at the maps, like the navionics website and you will see lots of shoals, turns, points, corners and bottlenecks. Each of these presents dangers and caution on the ice. Good luck out there
