Tried Huffs this morning, fished in 29 ft , 300 meters' from shore. Ice was smooth with very little snow( almost non at all). there is 4 inches of black ice, no white ice.
Current was non exited, marked only a couple of fish. 9 people on ice , only 3 fish caught. With the next few days at below -10, Ice should be nice and solid by the weekend.

I fished the cable tonight. I have the ice on the porch if someone doesn’t believe me of 4 1/4 inches of ice. Walked about half way across. Limited out in little under a hour. 3:15 and coming home at 4:15

Is the "cable" the hydro line?

Any updates on general ice thickness/conditions at Huffs? Thanks in advance!

And that was 4 inches measured with a tape measure at the hole. I highly recommend using a spud as you go out though. There is a glassy looking area to the left that looks like a pressure crack. I was a third of the way straight out from the ramp.

At Huffs this morning. Out close to half way across reach. Ice was measured at 5”. The pay as you go parking lot was full with many trucks parked on the ice. I have never seen so many huts at this spot. Tomorrow is going to be a gong show. BATMAN

Fished the afternoon at huffs. 5 in solid black ice. Had to be over 50 people on the ice , with more showing up for the night bite. Parking lot was full, with 12 vehicles parked on the ice. Marked lots of perch, but no takers. Going to try again tomorrow. Checked Sherman's, only 5 vehicles at parking lot, saw about 10 huts from old church to far side straight across Sherman's ramp. Not many to far to the right of the ramp.

I too went to Huffs. Started fishing at 2:30 and left at 5:00. Counted 60 shacks as far as I could see. Guys I talked to said they caught a few this morning but that was it.
