Over the years ive tried various bait buckets and tupperware containers to hold minnows. Right now Im using a rectangle tupperware container and its okay. Pros are they are fairly cheap, water tight, and size wise big enough I can keep my second and third rods baited and ready to switch out without tangling and they are cheap to buy( I am cheap or id just go buy the clam one with the screw on top). The downside is once they get ice on the lid they dont reseal so good and they are prone to cracking on a bumpy ride when using the sled. At home i have a bucket and aerator to keep them till the next outing. What are you using to keep your minnows when fishing? Needs to be water tight and durable.

For transport and fishing I use a 1 gallon thermos...about $17 at WalMart. Every once in a while on the ice, I stick a straw in the flip open spout and blow a few times for manual aeration . The spout also allows you to pour out stale water and refill with fresh, without pouring out the minnows at the same time. Even on the coldest days, they never freeze. You can run over it, and it won't crack.

At home I keep them in the garage in an 50qt Igloo cooler with an aquarium aerator.

I use the small clam minnow bucket with insulated case. There is a bracket that mounts to my portable hut that flips out to hold the bucket in a convenient spot to grab minnows. My hut is heated so I can leave the bucket open all day. When it's time to move the bucket has a gasketed watertight lid so water stays out of hut during ride down lake. I have had it for 6 or 7 years now. BATMAN

Can not remember the name of this Dan, I bought it from Skevy when he was in his first location 10 or 12 years ago. Dick Sommerville might have the name of it for you since my memory tells me he had one also. Easy to carry with the shoulder strap, can be worn under a jacket or just toss it in the sled on the ice. It has two caps one for air and straining and a cover over cap for spillproof. Tip it up and pour your minnow out.

Fry Flier, i had the same minnow bucket for a few years. Worked very well. She broke and went into the garbage. I could not find another. BATMAN

I believe that is the "quick-minnow" bait container.

I made something similar out of an insulated wide mouth thermos and screen strainer.

I use similar to Crowman's suggestion. Insulated thermos jug with carry handle, smaller size. Got mine at Value Village for $4. For keeping minnows between outings, I keep my minnows in regular plastic pail in the basement with a small bubbler. I change the water every 2 or 3 days. I have had zero bait fatalities this winter; other than those who had a hook thru their skull.
