Splake or Spec

Fish caught at the cottage today. Ministry stopped stocking splake in 2013. Used to be a native population of Lake Trout, but they disappeared late 80’s.
what do you think? Have caught lots of splake in this lake over the last 15 years, but never a speck. Speck or Splake?

The tail says Splake. Beautiful fish !!

Defiintely a splake. The markings on the gill plate are a more reliable indicator. Brookies don't tend to have any.

Thanks guys, was sure it had to be a splake, but the Markings on the lower fins and the mouth really had us second guessing. Was a bigun for sure!
