Perchy, I use a small Dakota 10aHr Lithium on my Vexilar. It requires a special lithium battery charger. The larger lithium batteries such as a 12V 100aHr battery would also require a dedicated Lithium battery charger. It you use a standard charger used for lead acid or AGM batteries your new Lithium battery will not fully charge. Jeff Gustafson referred to in one of the other posts has decided not to use Lithium batteries in his new boat because many tour anglers are having Lithium battery issues. Not sure of the whole story, but he has stayed with time proven AGM batteries for his new boat. I would think the main tip is to insure you also purchase the matching Dakota charger. Good Luck. Hey Perchy

I was interested in the same Dakota Lithium 12v 100ah batteries for my 24 volt terrova. I was told by the tech team at Minn-kota my on board charger MK315D will charge the lithium batteries no problem as long as the batteries can be charged at 14.4 volts. Not sure if this helps you any. I am still pondering whether to by 2 12v 100ah lithium batteries or continue to run with current lead acid.
