Hey folks -
I've been a long-time lurker and occasional commenter, so thought it was about time that I chipped in with a report of my own.
Went out of Waupoos last weekend for a bit of a shake-down cruise in our new 'big lake' boat with my son and bro-in-law. BIL was keen to try for a lake trout, so we went out deep(er), most of the way to Main Duck. Ran down rigger balls close to bottom in 80-100 feet to target lakers and two lead core lines back about 8 colours, hoping for a salmon or rainbow. Yep, probably a bit optimistic for August, but getting in some practice for next spring. Spent a lot of time setting and resetting lines, frickin' around with the new sounder, experimenting with how to get to a good trolling speed, etc. when, lo' and behold, one of the lead core rods started bouncing and my BIL reeled in.... a 6lb walleye. Not what I expected to catch on a flasher and spoon 40 feet down and practically out of sight of land... but we'll take it!
Happy to hear any thoughts or advice, even it is just the laughing-at-you emoji!
Best to all,
Dano

Thanks for sharing your new boat experience, I have heard of walleye coming from the depths when trolling for lakers or salmon.

Tight lines

Thanks, folks.
BATMAN, I'll try to attach a pic or two below. Forgive me if I screw it up...
JamieC, its a blue-hulled Seabreeze 23. Made in NFLD, so it has a high-bowed Cape Islander sort of vibe. I'll keep an eye out for your Lund.
Happy weekend,
Dano

For a 23 foot boat, THAT IS A LOT OF BOAT....Great looking ride.

Dano,

Nice.

Sure looks like it could handle Lake Ontario’s rough water.

Oh my... we'd KILL for a boat with those gorgeous LINES!!!

We don't see anything like it in the Upper B of Q, and we dearly wish that was NOT the case.

Can't get over how beautiful that Boat is!! 'Specially LOVE the Bow.

Warm rgds, Wordpecker

Dano; back in The Days when we were 'way less than 78, we owned a 22' Grady-White ("Seafarer"?), which gave us so many happy years. Yours is the first hull we've seen since, that left us droooooling!

To learn it's a Cdn/Nfld product makes us feel VERY Proud.

Man, would we LOVE to own one!

Appreciate the Pix.

Warmest Rgds, Wordpecker
