I noticed that I have a reel where the line guide will not layer the line across the spool. Looking at a parts list it is a line guide pawl. There is a picture of the new part and a picture of what I took out of my reel. It doesn't look much different. Any thoughts on if it is missing something or broken off or bent in some way? Is there a reel repair place that people use that might help? Thanks.

You might direct your question to Brown Bear Tackle, he repairs reels.

Looks like his website is down.

PM me for his email

it looks like the point on the right is slightly worn compared to the other point.

Looks like the part is worn.

If you want to fix it yourself, Mike's reel repair is a good parts source. https://www.mikesreelrepair.com/

They also have schematics in their site. The shipping is dear so I'd make a list of some wear parts you might need in the near future.

Also, I was at Pro Tackle today and the guy mentioned a reel repair that I think is local. You could check with Pro Tackle for a name, 613-968-4111

That pawl doesn't look that bad. Check the worm gear at the side the pawl stopped to see if it is scored or the points are bent. You can also leave the pawl cap off and put a bit of pressure on the pawl with your finger while reeling to see if it is engaging or not. IF you suspect it is bent and not badly damaged you can use a flat screwdriver to align the points so it tracks properly.
If the worm gear isn't turning it's probably a stripped nylon idler gear. Open up the non handle side of the reel.
For shimano, daiwa or abu parts contact Aikmans in Mississauga. For Okuma, Penn and Abu contact Rocky's in Orillia.
