Decided to hit Quinte this year, after a dismal showing last year at Nippissing for Bass Opener. We knew the fishing would be tougher, as the Quinte series tournament was in full force, but it was bass opener...a day of biblical proportions...

We left H-town by 4am, and were launched and fishing by 7:30....First fish in the boat by quarter to eight....Unfortunately the size was smaller...the biggens were not where they had been in the past....

By 9am, we had two dozen bass in the boat, but none over two pounds...Decided to head for deeper water, and the move paid off.

The first two good bass of the season....Both came on spinnerbaits slowrolled in deeper water. The wind was really picking up, blowing three foot swells...Found a windswept shoreline, and on his first cast, Jackson nailed something big....we were hoping for the first five pounder....and got it....

After being pounded in the wind for an hour or so, we found a quieter bay....and jackson, who was really starting to kick our butts by this point, nailed another beauty!

It was early evening, we had three quality fish in the boat, and a vast number of smaller fish....But the biggens hadn't come to play ... yet.

Moved around outta the bay, around the point, into another nice looking bay....with shad busting the surface...Just looked too perfect.

It was....double header.

The biggest two bass of the day, on a double header...My three pounder just doesn't look that big compared to our first four of the season. Good job Jacko!

A perfect way to cap off the first day of bass fishing in 2005. Although we didn't land our goal, a five pounder, our good friend george, who isn't pictured (didn't do so well), lost a five-six'er when it straightened his treble on his Blue Fox Spinner....biggest bass i've seen in the Bay...

We'll be back Thurs-Sunday, and are planning on catching that trophy!!!
