We live right on the long reach as most know on here and who I am. Getting wood in today for the woodstove. The bay sure was making lots of noise this afternoon really making ice. On that. Here’s a little side note. The ice is freezing so quickly with the cold weather it is forming ice heaves already and pressure cracks. Be very very careful this weekend if your venturing out. Always spud your way and enjoy the outdoors. The dew drop in. Is open 6-6. $6.00 a dozen. If the store light is on there is someone there. Enjoy the ice season ladies and gentlemen it doesn’t last long.

Thanks Nick that’s great news. Everyone should keep in mind that only a week ago Long Reach was wide open. Be safe out there everyone. No fish is worth a frigid or fatal bath.

You think the cables and huffs will be ready to go soon?

Took a drive to Huffs today. Only 3 inches of ice with a bit of snow on top. Saw 3 huts but, don't think they will be their all day. Sunday warming up, but Huffs should be ready in another week. Still early compared to last year. Will try next week and give it more time. No one at Sherman's or old church area fishing.

Neighbour out briefly yesterday... in PEC, on North Shoreline of The Bay.

Reported 4" of Ice, played with lots of Perch.., but NO Joy.

Should be enough Ice, BUT says they: "Didn't go very far from Shoreline."

Watch today's Temp 'n Wind CAREFULLY!

(Wind at 30 kph +, PLUS 39 F just before Noon, could chew up inches... QUICKLY.)

Hi all. I'm new to the area. Just wondering where "the cable" is and what that refers to? Thanks for all the great info here!

I was roughly 200 yards straight out from the cable. Multiple people out. Huffs had quite a few people out as well. Drilled our holes measured 5” in the one. And 5 1/4 in the other. Pure black ice. I love it when I can see the fish coming to the surface when fighting them. Caught 2 perfect eaters 3 pounders and 1 jumbo perch weighing a pound.

As to regards to where the cable is for the previous question. It’s out county rd 9 Napanee before huffs rd where other enjoy fishing the long reach. It’s basically right below the dew drop in bait and tackle. The “cable” is the hydro lines that run under the water
